The Colonel's Comeback

Guess who’s back? Remixed back. With chickenlovers everywhere asking ‘where the heck is the chicken?’ there was only one way to celebrate KFC’s return from the 'chicken crisis'. The original Colonel Sanders. I still think MRI scanning his body and bringing him back as hologram would have been more famous, but I happily rummaged through decades of archive footage to Cassette-Boy him back to life.

For the OOH, Greg Gossel remixed old photographs of the Colonel into one of his signature collages.

NOTHING BEATS THE ORIGINAL

We then switched Frank's rooftop bar in Peckham for a giant screen in Black Island studio and added in a few new archival soundbites to create a whole new spot. This time, driving to Original Recipe burgers.

The campaign helped to narrow the trading gap with the rest of the QSR category post-crisis and pushed higher ticket sales. The advert was also YouGov’s ad of the month.
